Long-Term Running Goals:

I'm 60, there is no long term.

Personal:

I live, work and run in Houston, Texas.  I have run 17 marathons, some good ones and some others.  I prefer straight, flat, cold, sea-level marathons, still waiting for my first one.  I feel like there are more PRs out there.  When I have them, I am told it is time to dial it back, run for healthy reasons.  I'm sure that's right, and I'm sure it won't happen.

My wife and I are from the mountains of the west.  We have five kids, three granddaughters and three grandsons.  The kids and grandkids are native Texans but we are not -- you have to be born here.

As for my blog title: I run most of my miles before sunrise, sometimes hours before. On the back road of my neighborhood two hours before daylight, I can depend on a pack of mutts behind the boundary fence lighting up when they hear my footsteps. I have wondered what they wanted; but according to Hemingway I needn't ask.

Knoxville, Tennessee.  Well, it has been quite a road trip, haven't been that sick in at least 10 years, maybe 20.  I had every imaginable flu symptom and I had them good.  At least it got me out of another trip to Taiwan this weekend -- maybe that is where I picked up this bug, people are telling me I sound kind of like a bird now.  I went on drugs a couple of nights just to get some sleep.  I still have Nyquil in my system, that stuff is nasty.  Not sure if medicated sleep is that good for you but it got me through the night.  Then all day traipsing around looking at the sights in D.C., it has been quite a week.  Posted my first 0 this week, to go with my first 100 a few weeks ago, symmetry is a wonderful thing.  Yeah, I am running Boston in a few weeks.  Training is in shambles.  I'll go out on Monday morning if I continue to improve and try to assess the damage.  I might be available to pace the 5-hour group at Boston.
