Long-Term Running Goals:

I'm 60, there is no long term.

Personal:

I live, work and run in Houston, Texas.  I have run 17 marathons, some good ones and some others.  I prefer straight, flat, cold, sea-level marathons, still waiting for my first one.  I feel like there are more PRs out there.  When I have them, I am told it is time to dial it back, run for healthy reasons.  I'm sure that's right, and I'm sure it won't happen.

My wife and I are from the mountains of the west.  We have five kids, three granddaughters and three grandsons.  The kids and grandkids are native Texans but we are not -- you have to be born here.

As for my blog title: I run most of my miles before sunrise, sometimes hours before. On the back road of my neighborhood two hours before daylight, I can depend on a pack of mutts behind the boundary fence lighting up when they hear my footsteps. I have wondered what they wanted; but according to Hemingway I needn't ask.

66F, 96%, calm between storms.  10.11 miles in 1:28:54, 8:42 per mile, 140 bpm.  Was saving up for Saturday morning, but now it's Saturday morning and we have lightning and thunder.  Not sure what will happen.

Hope you had a good run without storms

Just do not get HIT!!!

My husband loved his trip to Dubai. Now they are here and he is trying to find things in Utah that are even remotely cool for them to see. Aside from the mountains, we do not have much! He did take them to the olympic stuff in Park City with a behind the scenes tour. I am sure they think we are lame. ;o)

We got slammed with that stuff yesterday - hope you can bang out a run sometime today.

You've had a solid week of training! Hope the lightning storm passed by fast and you had a GREAT run!

BTW, I read your Stampede 5K last week. AWESOME race. YOU ARE FAST!!!

P.S. I didn't know what race my daughter ran in until you mentioned it to me. She did say I'd be proud of her because she puked at the end! Hahaha! Seriously, she had a 5 min. PR from the 10K she ran a month ago...so I am very proud of her either way! :)

lightning -- the weather that kills running. hope you got your run in in spite of the storms.

Dan, thanks, I got one in at least, just not the one I wanted.

Kelli, believe me, the Dubai folks are going to be talking about your mountains for years. The nearest thing they have to that is Kilimanjaro in Kenya.

Joe, we had some yesterday too, I thought it would have been gone but it lingered, stalled front I guess. (Still laughing about your book title.)

Smooth, congratulations to your daughter. That is a super PR for a 10K. I have never puked for a 5K, I guess my heart just isn't in it. I have done it 3 times for a marathon, though, so I consider myself a member of the club.

allie, a lot of people run anyway, but if it's close I try to be smart.

i won't run in lightning. i had a close call once...never again!
