Personal:

I live, work and run in Houston, Texas.  I have run 17 marathons, some good ones and some others.  I prefer straight, flat, cold, sea-level marathons, still waiting for my first one.  I feel like there are more PRs out there.  When I have them, I am told it is time to dial it back, run for healthy reasons.  I'm sure that's right, and I'm sure it won't happen.

My wife and I are from the mountains of the west.  We have five kids, three granddaughters and three grandsons.  The kids and grandkids are native Texans but we are not -- you have to be born here.

As for my blog title: I run most of my miles before sunrise, sometimes hours before. On the back road of my neighborhood two hours before daylight, I can depend on a pack of mutts behind the boundary fence lighting up when they hear my footsteps. I have wondered what they wanted; but according to Hemingway I needn't ask.

70F, 94% (DP 68F), calm.  So I made a tentative decision to move into a phase that includes more speedwork.  In the past doing this I got faster for a while, then got stale for at least a year, though hard to tell since some of that was injury-related.  If things go well I will probably peak at the end of the year, but not at Boston.  But I liked racing enough on Saturday that I think I am going to see how close I can get to my old PRs at shorter distances.  Everybody who knows me will be happy, not sure if I am but it isn't too much fun just getting ready for a marathon once or twice a year.

So today was 6 miles, with a fast mile thrown in, 7:21 (160 bpm).  Overall 6.09 in 54:07, 8:53/mile.

Here is the back of a car I saw at the race on Saturday.  No wonder everybody hates us.

You might enjoy the speedwork (in a sick way) and maybe after you reap those benefits, you can transition to the marathon-specific training for Boston. That's kind of the model I'm using, so I hopefully it's not a load of BS!

haha, that is a great picture, thanks for sharing. My husband has a 3.1 sticker on his car just because we think the stickers are terrible.
